We Are Out There
Many Christians believe they have never met an atheist. I, however, believe most people have met an atheist. There is a misconception that atheists must be sad, depressed souls. The assume we are people who do not celebrate holidays and they have little to be joyus about.
I am proof that atheists are first and foremost normal people. We can not be identified by the color of our skin or the type of clothes we wear. Atheists come in all colors, shapes and sizes. We are your co-workers, your neighbors, your friends, and your family. We want the same things for children: happiness, good health, and empathy. Atheists enjoy the wonder and beauty in our world just as everyone else. We look at the ocean and feel small too. We are out there.

In this country, much emphasis is put on Christianity and religion. There are some of us out here who believe that children can be taught morals and social rules without the influence of religion. Parental love and parental modeling are our childrens’ first and most important teachers. The home they grow up in is where they really learn the foundations of morality and social responsiblity.
